Float Construction
Float is an expanded foamed rubber, so-called cellular rubber, consisting of open-cell sponge rubber and closed cell expanded rubber. Sponge rubber has interdependent open cells, while expanded rubber has independent, homogeneous, continuous closed-cell structure. The latter is our NBR float...an elastomer based flotation material.
Continuous closed-cells inside float
NBR float is transformed from a solid material to a hard (ebonite-like), cellular structure by two step molding process. The outer surface is hard and smooth, while the inside acquires a closed cell structure.The closed cell nature (continuous independent closed-cells from surface to the core) eliminates the
possibility of sudden catastrophic failure of float sinking down to the bottom, typically associated with alternative materials based floats.
